Sometimes, life gets insanely busy. You have had a physically and mentally exhausting week. What do you do to bring yourself back to center?
Go have FUN!
The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines fun as “something that provides amusement, enjoyment; light hearted pleasure.”
Fun helps you feel better. Fun helps us to release stored up negative feelings. We laugh when we have fun and we feel happier. When we are happier, we create happiness in others.
When we have more fun in our lives, we have less resentment and feel less frustration. We have more confidence.
When I feel depleted and need to recharge, I go to the mountains, I go camping. I love camping. Cooking over a campfire, going on hikes and being in nature, all replenish me.
Every person has a different idea of what fun is. What’s fun for me, might be a bore to you. Some people just don’t know how to have fun. It’s important to try out different ways to have fun.
Here are some suggestions:
- Go on a Road Rally
- Ride a bike
- Play video games
- Play cards or a board game (D&D is my favorite)
- Go to a movie
- Star gaze
- Go to the library
- Read a “Great” book (Pulitzer prize winning) or a “trashy” book (50 Shades of Grey)
- Go to a museum
- Go to the zoo
- Go to a park
- Have a picnic
- Try a new recipe
- Have a bonfire in your backyard
- Volunteer at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter
- Ride a motorcycle
- Go parachuting
- Binge watch a Netflix series (30 Rock is my favorite)
- Try every flavor of ice cream at your local dairy
- Have a party (movie marathon, costume, murder mystery)
- Plan a digital scavenger hunt for friends or family
- Go to a Farmer’s Market
- Go Bowling
- Play miniature golf
- Go to a drive-in (if you can find one)
- Go on a roller coaster
- Make bread
- Listen to a podcast
- Go to a Comedy Club
- Watch a sunset or sunrise
- Bake a pie
- Go to a garage sale
- Learn a language
- Go to a concert
- Try a new hobby
- Take a cooking class
- Go to the beach
- Go hiking
- Go dancing
- Try geocaching
- Try a new sport or go play your favorite sport
- Learn juggling
- Try martial arts or yoga
- Take a music lesson
- Go fly a kite
